1. FC Nuremberg with a minus and “tail wind

1. FC Nürnberg again closed the past 2021/22 financial year with a minus, but was able to significantly reduce the deficit of 2.5 million euros compared to the previous year (9.4 million euros).

The liabilities on the balance sheet date nevertheless increased by 5.7 million euros to now 18.7 million euros. This was announced by the nine-time German champions on Saturday.

In addition, the more than 860 members present at the annual general meeting unanimously decided to merge the Women’s and Girls’ Football e.V. with the club’s men’s team. Sports director Dieter Hecking then spoke of a “tailwind” for the second-division women, who have already sold more than 16,000 tickets for Sunday’s upcoming DFB Cup match against VfL Wolfsburg.

Niels Rossow, commercial director of the club, also confirmed the plan for a new stadium at the current location by 2029 (“These are not castles in the air”). He also announced his intention to almost double the number of club members to 50,000 by the 125th anniversary in 2025.
