It is eagerly awaited how many Schalke fans will make their way to Sinsheim on Sunday. Now there is an official assessment of TSG Hoffenheim about it.
TSG Hoffenheim invites FC Schalke 04 to the relegation summit on Sunday evening (7:30 p.m., RS-Liveticker). In the run-up, the numbers are rolling over how many Schalke fans could probably get tickets for the game.
The Schalke fan club Sportfreunde Kurpfalz 05 expects up to 12,000 S04 supporters in Sinsheim on Easter Sunday. Schalke’s coach Thomas Reis had also commented on the matter in the pre-match press conference. He said he had goosebumps at the thought of it and that it was the next level of support for his team, who wanted to draw energy from it.
Even Hoffenheim’s coach Pellegrino Matarazzo had commented on the matter before the relegation clash and appeared relaxed. Even at the home game against Borussia Dortmund, he said, they had many guest supporters in the stadium. Nevertheless, the PreZero Arena will remain the home stadium of TSG Hoffenheim, even if there will be a special atmosphere.
If he’s not mistaken about that. For many Borussia Dortmund fans, it was a rare opportunity to see their team live in the stadium at an away game, because it’s easier to get tickets at Hoffenheim than at other away games. For S04, however, it is already a perceived final on Sunday. The fans of the Königsblauen will therefore go to work with a completely different motivation.
Independently of this, however, there are now the first figures from Hoffenheim, with how many Schalke players TSG actually expects. “As TSG communicates in advance, around 9,000 to 10,000 guest fans are expected,” writes the online portal Heidelberg24. “That’s what we know,” TSG press spokesman Joerg Bock is said to have said on Thursday, according to the portal.
Even in Kraichgau, however, they assume that there were more than 10,000 Schalke fans on site. How many there were and whether it was of any use, we will know late Sunday evening.
