The VfL Bochum perspective team more than successfully completed its first test, beating Oberliga side Türkspor Dortmund 12:1 (6:1). Two professionals were there.
A few days ago, VfL Bochum presented a new project. The so-called “Perspective Team” is intended to help promote the club’s own young talent even better in the future. A selection of young professionals and talents from the U19, U17 and U16 age groups will be developed in additional training sessions and test matches.
On Tuesday evening, the perspective team played together for the first time. In a test match, they played against the upper league team Türkspor Dortmund. Sebastian Tyrala’s team, which includes ex-professional Marcel Reichwein, beat Sportfreunde Lotte 3-0 at the weekend – but the coach made a complete change compared to the victory in the Oberliga.
Against the U21s, however, who were led by David Siebers (coach U17, squad planning U13-U19), the Oberliga team was left without a chance. The VfL started with the two professionals Niclas Thiede and Moritz Römling, seven U19 players and with Kacper Koscierski (16) and Jaden Kibbe (15) even two juniors who still play in the U17.
Türkspor take an early lead, then Bochum get going
Although Türkspor got off to a lightning start and took a 1-0 lead through Reichwein after only three minutes, the seniors were then shown up by the perspective team, which was largely made up of juniors.
In front of sports director Patrick Fabian and coach Thomas Letsch, the Bochum side played themselves into a frenzy. Divine John Boafo (7th), Cajetan Lenz (11th), Lennart Koerdt (12th, 41st/FE), the young Koscierski (32nd) and Eligius Hounsa (34th) turned the score around before the break to a clear 6:1, despite the early deficit, and gave the Oberliga team no further chance. The young players were by no means physically inferior to the seniors and presented Türkspor with great problems with their speed.
The action continued after the break. Hounsa (49th) and Boafo (52nd) each scored their second goals to make it 8:1. Siebers then made a change, but the new players did not take their foot off the accelerator.
Daryl Tschoumy Nana (72nd) and Luis Pick (76th), both from the U17s, scored after their substitution. In the final phase, Koerdt made his day perfect by scoring first with a lob from distance (79th) and then with a low shot from 20 metres (82nd) to complete his personal four-goal haul and bring the final score to 12:1.
I think that has already brought a lot of joy and what we expect from these games
David Siebers
“It was insanely fun,” coach David Siebers said happily after the game. “The first few minutes it looked like it was going to be a tough day for us, but the boys found each other extremely quickly.”
The U21s will not play on Thursday as originally planned – the match against ASC 09 Dortmund was first postponed, then cancelled – but will continue on Monday (7pm). “I think that has already brought a lot of joy and what we expect from these games. Now we’re looking forward to next week, when we’ll have the next Oberliga team as guests,” said Siebers, looking ahead. Then it’s against Preußen Münster II. with gp
