Viktoria have unveiled their ninth signing for the coming season. He comes for the attacking midfield and brings a lot of experience with him.
Albion Vrenezi joins league rivals Viktoria Köln after two years at TSV 1860 Munich. The 30-year-old attacking midfielder comes to the Rhineland on a free transfer.
“I’m delighted to be here and have already received a warm welcome from the coaching team and those responsible,” said Vrenezi. “I am convinced that we will play a great season together. I’m looking forward to working with the team and achieving our goals. I want to play my part in that. I want to prove my qualities on the ball and my eye for my teammates here too.”
The Kosovar has both feet and is versatile in attack. In addition to 122 appearances (16 goals, 18 assists) in the 3rd division, Vrenezi also has experience from three years in the 2nd Bundesliga (51 games, four goals, seven assists). Before his time in Munich-Giesing, the 1.77-meter tall attacking player played for Jahn Regensburg, FC Augsburg II and Türkgücü München, among others.
“Albion is a player with a lot of experience. That will certainly be good for our young squad. He’s also a very good one-on-one player and can give the young players in particular a lot. That was decisive for the transfer. We didn’t just opt for Albion Vrenezi as a footballer, but also as a person,” said Stephan Küsters, Viktoria’s sporting director.
Vrenezi is the ninth player to find his way into the Viktoria Köln first team this summer.
