In the summer of 2022, Tim Stappmann had moved from Rot-Weiß Oberhausen to 1. FC Magdeburg. The defender experienced a moment of shock in a match of the FCM-Reserve.
Tim Stappmann had certainly imagined his move from regional league team Rot-Weiß Oberhausen to second division team 1. FC Magdeburg differently.
After about half a year on the Elbe, the defender is still waiting for his professional debut for FCM. And this despite the fact that Magdeburg paid Oberhausen around 75,000 euros for Stappmann, according to information from RevierSport.
To date, the 23-year-old has only played for Magdeburg’s reserve team, which plays in the Sachsen-Anhalt-Liga. Here, he has already scored four goals.
During his last appearance for the FCM U23 team against Fortuna Magdeburg, a teammate crashed into Stappmann so unfortunately that he had to leave the pitch after 18 minutes and had 14 (!) stitches in his right eye on the spot. This was reported by the Bild-Zeitung.
In the following days, the Krefeld native complained that he could no longer feel the right side of his head. But fortunately, an initial suspicion of a stroke could be ruled out. In the meantime, Stappmann is feeling better and, like the other FCM professionals, is now on winter break. The former Oberhausen player will also need this rest.
And, who knows, maybe a fit Stappmann will be able to start for the Magdeburg professionals in the second half of the season. Because as the team second from last in the table and the team with the most goals conceded (33 in total) after 17 games, coach Christian Titz should consider a change in defence.
