1. FC Bocholt has made another addition and brought in a man for the center of attack. He comes from the Regionalliga Nordost, but already knows the west.
Cedric Euschen is turning his back on FC Energie Cottbus and joining 1. FC Bocholt. This was announced by the “Schwatten” on Thursday, June 27. For the 26-year-old striker, it is a return to the Regionalliga West, which he already knows from his time at Fortuna Düsseldorf II and Sportfreunde Lotte.
“I’m happy to finally be here in Bocholt. The talks with the coach and the club officials have convinced me that I want to be a part of the development in Bocholt. I’m really looking forward to the coming season and especially the first home game at Hünting,” said Euschen, who trained in the youth department of 1. FC Saarbrücken.
The two-footed attacker played in the club’s youth teams up to the A-Juniors before joining 1. FC Nürnberg in the summer of 2017 to gain his first senior experience in the U23s. His transfer to SV Wehen Wiesbaden was initially accompanied by a loan deal back to 1. FC Saarbrücken.
He then moved to Fortuna Düsseldorf II for the 2020/21 season, for whom he scored one goal and provided three assists in 31 games. He spent the following season at Lotte (35 games, eight goals, one assist). After a further year at BFC Dynamo and FC Energie Cottbus respectively, he has now joined Bocholt.
Schorch: “Would have loved to have seen him at Hünting two years ago”
“I’ve had Cedric on my radar for a very long time and would have liked to have seen him at the Hünting two years ago. He’s a very versatile player with a good build and strong one-on-one skills. We are delighted to have won him for our club,” said a delighted Christopher Schorch, Managing Director of Sport.
Euschen has played 148 regional league games across all seasons. “Cedric is physically strong and can play all positions in attack. He will enrich our team with his dynamism and robustness,” added his new coach Björn Mehnert.
