The squad restructuring at Rot-Weiss Essen continues. An offensive player leaves, it is already the 14th departure.
Rot-Weiss Essen continues to tinker with the squad for the new season in the 3rd division. Six players have joined the team, but now the club has announced the 14th player to leave.
RWE and winger Aurel Loubongo are going their separate ways. The 22-year-old terminated his contract at Hafenstraße and will join regional league team VfB Oldenburg with immediate effect.
Loubongo moved to Essen from FC St. Pauli’s U23 last summer and played 13 competitive games for RWE. “We are convinced that the move to VfB Oldenburg is the best solution for all parties involved. Aurel has a lot of potential, we would be happy for him if he continues to develop at a good level by playing regularly for a top regional league team. We would like to thank him for his commitment and wish him all the best for his future career and private life,” said Marcus Steegmann, Director of Professional Football at RWE.
Loubongo also did not play in the 8-0 test match win at VfB Bottrop on Tuesday.
