The FC Schalke 04 U19s have started training again. Coach Norbert Elgert welcomed 15 newcomers for the first dance on the wet training pitch.
The next training kick-off at Schalke. After the professionals, the U19s have now started their preparations for the new season in the U19 Bundesliga West. Coach Norbert Elgert welcomed the team to the pitch in the shadow of the Veltins Arena for the first time at around 3.15 pm.
In addition to the five external newcomers Roman Doulashi (Bonner SC U19), Jean-Paul N’Diaye (Hannover 96 U17) and Bilal Brusdeilins (Viktoria Berlin U17) as well as winger Zaid Amoussou-Tchibara (Bayer Leverkusen U17) and Yannick Bruno Numbisie (Borussia Dortmund U17), ten players were brought up from the team’s own U17: Mertcan Ayhan, Taylan Bulut, Berkay Karaca, Edion Gashi, Mika Khadr, Keanu Kerbsties, Pierre Rogasik, Johannes Siebeking, Obed Ofori and Jermain Jann.
The training kick-off then took place with a total of 27 players. Coach Elgert was satisfied with the first session: “The first impression is expectedly positive. We warmed up, played some football and did some light athletic training. So the start has certainly been successful, everything is fine. “
While there was a lot of work with the ball on the pitch for the opener, Elgert spoke to the team at length before training. “We met and I did the first meeting for a good half hour, where we addressed basic and directional things, as every team does. We also introduced each other and did the first tune-up for the season, the preparation.”
After a little more than two hours, the session was over and the start of the new season was made. The successful youth coach did not want to announce a specific goal for the season; he would only discuss that with his team during the training camp. Nevertheless, Elgert already demanded something from his team: “Everyone has to give their best every day. For their personal development, for the team, but also for their employer, FC Schalke 04.”
It is not yet clear whether young hopeful Assan Ouedraogo, who is currently with the professionals, will be in the training camp. Elgert reveals: “The club will certainly have something to say about that in the next few days. “
