VfL Osnabrück will say goodbye to 16 players on the final matchday in the 2nd Bundesliga against Hertha BSC. Meanwhile, one experienced Bundesliga player is going to the 3rd division.
16 players and three members of the coaching and functional team will leave VfL Osnabrück, relegated from the 2nd Bundesliga.
Lennart Grill (on loan from Union Berlin), Athanasios Androutsos (on loan from Olympiakos Piraeus), Maximilian Thalhammer (came from SSV Jahn Regensburg), Kwasi Okyere Wriedt (on loan from Holstein Kiel), Lex Tyger Lobinger (on loan from 1. FC Kaiserslautern), Christian Conteh (came from Feyenoord Rotterdam), Thoms Goiginger (came from LASK), Michael Cuisance (on loan from Venezia FC), Oumar Diakhite (came from SV Sandhausen) and John Verhoek (came from FC Hansa Rostock) joined the Purple & White last summer or during the winter break. Their contracts end on June 30. Three other players, Henry Rorig (with VfL since 2022), Daniel Adamczyk (with VfL since 2022) and Oliver Wähling (with VfL since 2021), said goodbye. Florian Bähr, who moved to VfL from TSG Hoffenheim last summer, is still under contract with VfL but will be loaned out to another club in the coming season.
Meanwhile, VfL announced that Robert Tesche will continue to play for Osnabrück in the upcoming third division season. “We are delighted to be entering his third season at VfL with Robert. He is an absolute model professional who will help our team in the coming season with his experience and attitude – on and off the pitch. Even in the current second division season, Robert has repeatedly demonstrated his qualities, both in the starting eleven and as a substitute. With his calmness, experience and attitude, he is an important anchor point for his teammates,” says VfL Managing Director Philipp Kaufmann.

Robert Tesche
Tesche made 70 appearances in two seasons in a VfL shirt and contributed 11 goals and seven assists. In total, he made 136 appearances in the 1st Bundesliga and 135 in the 2nd Bundesliga. He also played 82 games in the English Championship and 37 matches in the 3rd division. Further third division matches will be added in the 2024/2025 series
