The 1. FC Saarbrücken has made another move in the transfer market and signed a very experienced second division professional.
Due to injury-related circumstances, third-division club 1. FC Saarbrücken has once again acted in the transfer market and signed its former youth player Calogero Rizzuto.
Rizzuto returns to his hometown with the recommendation of 162 games in the 2nd Bundesliga and is initially to close the gap that has arisen on the right wing. The 30-year-old will start training on Wednesday. The contract is valid until 30 June 2024.
“Due to the absence of Dominik Ernst, we had an urgent need for action and are glad to be able to sign such an experienced player with a strong relationship to his home country. Calogero is a very accomplished outfield player who can play on both the right and the left. This flexibility will also help us when Dominik Ernst returns to the pitch,” explained Saarbrücken manager Rüdiger Ziehl.
Rizzuto is to replace Ernst at right-back. The latter will miss up to six weeks. The 32-year-old Ernst, who already had a meniscus injury in the summer, is out again due to knee problems.
