169-time second division striker wants to leave Hammer Straße

SC Preußen Münster is having a very decent season after returning to the third division. But, of course, not all players are performing and are satisfied.

SC Preußen Münster has returned to the 3rd division after three years. The team, coached by Sascha Hildmann, has achieved promotion in spectacular fashion.

And, as is so often the case, such achievements also have a downside: Nicolai Remberg (Holstein Kiel) and Henok Teklab (Royale Union Saint-Gilloise) left Hammer Straße. Two absolute top performers and heroes of the promotion.

Andrew Wooten was one of them. The 34-year-old was involved in 26 goals (16 goals, 10 assists) in the promotion season. But now the striker no longer plays a role for coach Hildmann. The current record: ten short appearances, two goals, one assist – total playing time: 212 minutes.

As reported by the Bild newspaper, the American only wants to leave. 169 appearances in second division matches for Sandhausen, Kaiserslautern and FSV Frankfurt – and now only a third division benchwarmer: this is not Wooten’s aspiration. According to the Bild, he had already agreed with Kickers Offenbach in the summer, but the Prussians did not let him go – Wooten has a contract until the summer of 2024.

Yes, Andrew approached us and expressed his desire to leave. Talks and negotiations are ongoing. If he finds the right interested party, we won’t stand in his way.

But now the Prussians have a top scorer in their ranks with Malik Batmaz.

The 23-year-old came to the Münsterland region from Karlsruher SC before the season and turned out to be a real hit. The lively, technically skilled and goal-scoring winger has scored eleven goals this season. Joel Grodowski has scored seven third-division goals. And then there is Gerrit Wegkamp (18 games, one goal, five assists). Three striker arguments for a Wooten departure in the winter. Perhaps in the direction of Offenbach. The southwest regional league team, where former RWE coach Christian Neidhart is responsible for the team, is said to be still interested.

Münster’s sporting director Peter Niemeyer (40) told the tabloid BILD: “Yes, Andrew has actively approached us and expressed his desire to leave. Talks and negotiations are ongoing. If he finds the right interested party, we won’t stand in his way.”
