17 assists in 29 games – second division club gets this regional league scorer

SV Wehen Wiesbaden have signed their first transfer for the 2024/2025 season.

First summer transfer fixed! Relegation-threatened second division side SV Wehen Wiesbaden have signed Ivan Franjic from Würzburger Kickers. The 26-year-old attacking midfielder joins the Red & Blacks on a free transfer from this year’s Bavarian regional league champions.

“Ivan is a classic box-to-box player who combines creative moments with a high level of intelligence. He has a good approach and possesses a physicality with which he always asserts himself in direct duels. In Ivan, we have gained a footballer who can provide offensive penetration with his dynamism and speed of action, while at the same time actively defending forwards in counter-pressing. We are delighted that he has decided to join us,” said SVWW managing director Nico Schäfer.

The German-Croatian, who trained as a youth player at Bayer Leverkusen and Erzgebirge Aue, among others, moved to Würzburg from FSV Frankfurt in the summer of 2022. In the current season, the two-footed Franjic has already set up 17 goals in 29 regional league games and scored once himself. 18 goals in 29 appearances – an impressive rate!

In addition, the midfielder from the Westerwald was already the top provider of assists in the Bavarian regional league last season with 15 assists.

“I want to develop personally and take the next step. I’ve already played once in Wiesbaden with Eintracht Braunschweig and the compact stadium immediately appealed to me. It’s certainly no disadvantage that there are already some Croatians in the squad to help me settle in quickly, but I’m generally a very sociable person and will quickly get on well with every player,” said Franjic, who is looking forward to the challenge at SV Wehen Wiesbaden.
