SV Rödinghausen played a disappointing 2023/2024 Regionalliga West season overall. The SVR actually wanted to attack at the top. That is to be made up for in the new series.
Sixth place and 24 points behind champions Alemannia Aachen: this is SV Rödinghausen’s starting position two matchdays before the end of the 2023/2024 season.
Everything should be better in 2024/2025. “Of course, we’re not satisfied with the season. We definitely expected more. But we’ve also made progress under coach Farat Toku. We want to continue that in the upcoming preparations and get off to a good start,” explained Alexander Müller, SV Rödinghausen’s managing director of sport.
Toku took over for the hapless Carsten Rump and has won nine of his 19 competitive matches as SVR coach. There were also five draws and five defeats. “You can slowly tell that the boys are running out of steam. We’re also longing for the end of the season,” says Müller.
Rödinghausen have only won one of their last six matches. The East Westphalians still have to face Fortuna Düsseldorf II and then Fortuna Cologne to finish the season, before putting a tick behind 2023/2024
We don’t want to spout any slogans. We need to prepare well and get the season off to a good start. We’ll see about the rest.
Alexander Müller
As of July 1, 2024, 18 current SVR players are still employed at the Wiehen. Only the departures of Mirko Schuster (Eintracht Trier) and Mordecai Zuhs, who recently introduced himself to 1. FC Düren, are certain. “We are planning five to six additions. We want to create new competition and freshness in the squad. We’re well on the way to announcing the signing of a number of players,” revealed Müller.
Ramien Safi, who was involved in 13 Rödinghausen Regionalliga goals, is not yet gone, but will be soon. Müller also knows that after the current season and 32 games (ten goals, three assists), the 24-year-old will be impossible to keep. “He will leave us 99.9 percent of the time. His path will lead to a higher level. I have every confidence that Ramien will do that,” emphasized the SVR manager.
Without Safi, but with up to six new players: What will SV Rödinghausen be able to do in the 2024/2025 season? Müller answers diplomatically: “We don’t want to spout any slogans. We need to prepare well and get the season off to a good start. We’ll see about the rest. “
