Bundesliga football club VfL Bochum has rewarded one of its talents by signing him to a professional contract.
VfL Bochum has tied a talent from its own youth to the club: Mats Pannewig receives his first professional contract, which is dated until 30 June 2025 and includes the option for an extension for another year.
“Mats Pannewig has developed enormously during his time with us in the talent factory,” says Patrick Fabian, Managing Director Sport at VfL Bochum , about the 18-year-old midfielder.
Fabian adds: “We have had him in training with the professional team time and again, he has played in the tests and he was also part of the group in the winter training camp. Mats has a good physique, is tall and technically very well trained. We are pleased to be able to integrate another player from our talent pool into the professional ranks and are convinced that his development is far from over. “
“I felt very much at home at VfL from the very first moment,” says Mats Pannewig.
“The decision to move to Bochum was absolutely right. I was able to develop further in the U19s under the guidance of Heiko Butscher and have been very well received by the professionals. That’s why I’m really looking forward to the challenges ahead and to working with Thomas Letsch and the coaching team. At the moment, however, I’m concentrating fully on the U19s, where we have important games in the coming weeks. “
