There were some very surprising results in the 3rd division on matchday 14. TSV 1860 Munich and Dynamo Dresden were also affected.
While Rot-Weiss Essen and FSV Zwickau (1:1) and 1. FC Saarbrücken and SV Meppen (0:0) as well as Erzgebirge Aue and Elversberg (1:1) shared the points on Matchday 14 of the 3rd Division, there were winners and losers in the other places.
Borussia Dortmund II defeated the in-form Verler. So far, so good.
But there was trouble after two other games. Dynamo Dresden lost 2-1 at SV Waldhof Mannheim and the 2,000 or so fans from Saxony who had travelled with them took their professionals to task. The second-division relegated team won only one of its last six games and is lagging behind its goal of “direct promotion”.
“The course of the game couldn’t have been more bitter today, actually we should have taken the lead. Mannheim didn’t have a shot in front of goal, while we clearly dominated the game,” Dresden coach Markus Anfang told “MagentaSport” after the match. “The boys are very down that we didn’t manage to take away deserved points. We mustn’t moan, but accept it and fight back. “
In the next home game against SC Freiburg II, Dresden have to get a three-pointer, otherwise things might start to get tight for coach Anfang as well. He emphasised after the Mannheim defeat: “We are a good bunch, everyone is willing. Only the results don’t fit. “
There was also great disappointment on the part of TSV 1860 München. At the promoted Spielvereinigung Bayreuth, the “Lions” lost 0:1 despite what felt like a home game atmosphere.
“We played against a defensively very well adjusted opponent who made life difficult for us. In the end, it felt like a cup match. The lower-ranked team is leading and the higher-ranked team can’t get going. We had actually been much better at that in the last few weeks. In Bayreuth it was poor,” Löwen coach Michael Köllner was annoyed and “utterly disappointed”.
And 1860 striker Marcel Bär, who celebrated his comeback after three months, was also dejected and said on “Magenta TV”: “This is extremely bitter for us. It felt like a home game. We would have liked to give our fans a win. That was a setback. “
