The sell-off at SV Straelen has long since begun. Now the best SVS player this season has also found a new club.
To date, only Marcio Blank’s move to regional league side SV Scherpenberg was known following SV Straelen’s withdrawal from the top division. Now comes the next transfer.
Tom Hirsch, who according to forecasting information was also courted by several regional league clubs, is moving to the Landesliga. The 27-year-old, who has scored a whopping 19 goals – nine goals and ten assists – in 17 appearances this season, is moving to 1. FC Monheim.
“Tom is certainly one of the most exciting players on the Lower Rhine at the moment and we’ve had him on our radar for some time, and not just since he was the talk of the town in the winter. The youngster is a thoroughbred footballer for whom certain parameters in his immediate environment are important,” reads a press release from 1. FC Monheim.
And further: “As a family man, he now appreciates short distances, which we can of course provide for his home in Benrath. In addition, we have a large number of lads in our squad who have been close friends of Tom’s for a long time and who have been able to do the best advertising for our club. After hearing about the possibility of signing him, we intensified our efforts and are extremely happy that we were able to convince Tom of our path. He is passionate about his new role and will once again offer our coaches new options. Above all, he is always good for special moments in games and makes us even more unpredictable. We are happy that he will now be playing for us.”
In addition to his youth clubs SG Unterrath, Rot-Weiß Oberhausen and Wuppertaler SV, Hirsch was also under contract with senior clubs WSV, Kalkum-Wittlaer, Rather SV, MSV Düsseldorf, Ratingen 04/19 and SV Straelen.
In the last four Oberliga seasons, he scored 55 goals in 88 appearances and directly assisted a further 32 goals.
In the Landesliga, he made 132 appearances in which he was involved in 77 goals (46 goals, 31 assists). There will certainly be a few more to come now
