SV Scherpenberg have signed the next player who played in the Oberliga Niederrhein in the first half of the season.
After Marcio Blank, who comes from the bankrupt club SV Straelen, Marcel Kretschmer (VfB Homberg) also moves from the Oberliga Niederrhein to the Landesliga to SV Scherpenberg.
The transfer was finalized by Sven Schützek, who will not officially start working for the Moers club as head of sport until July 1. “I also emphasized that I’m already on the lookout for reinforcements for Scherpenberg. And Marcel is one such reinforcement. You could also say that the boy is an anticipation for the summer,” Schützek, who is currently still coach at Spielvereinigung Sterkrade-Nord, explained to Forecasting.
Kretschmer only moved to VfB Homberg in the summer. However, he was unable to establish himself at the Rheindeich in Duisburg. The 21-year-old midfielder appeared in twelve games, but only played 213 minutes and was never in the starting eleven. He did, however, contribute a goal in the 4-0 win against SV Sonsbeck on matchday nine.
In total, the Krefeld native has made 31 senior league and 20 regional league appearances in his career to date – in a KFC Uerdingen shirt.
“Marcel is a young and ambitious player who has now had a weaker half-season. He can now regain his confidence in Scherpenberg. We are aware of his great potential and he will definitely strengthen the squad,” emphasized Schützek.
SV Scherpenberg are in eighth place after 21 games and 33 points. They are currently eight points behind one of the two promotion places. Scherpenberg is now in its fourth year of trying to move up to the top division. The club is considered to be in a strong financial position. However, coach Ralf Gemmer has not yet managed to realize the Oberliga in Moers. This should then be possible from summer 2024 with the support of the new sports director Schützek – the first transfer in the person of Marcel Kretschmer certainly makes you sit up and take notice
