BVB won the test match against regional league team Rot-Weiß Oberhausen 3-2 thanks to a late goal from Samuel Bamba.
Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund won the second test match of their preparation at regional team Rot-Weiß Oberhausen 3:2 (1:1).
Cottrell Ezekwem (6th) and Manfredas Ruzgis (69th) scored for Oberhausen in front of 8610 spectators at the Niederrhein stadium, Dortmund’s Marco Reus equalised to make it 1-1 in the meantime (14th), Ezekwem also caused an own goal (49th). In the end, Samuel Bamba scored (90th).
For Rot-Weiß Oberhausen, formerly in the Bundesliga, now in the Regionalliga, this evening was something special. The big neighbour, heavyweight in German football, dropped by and at least started with some of its stars. Mats Hummels and Niklas Süle formed the central defence, Marco Reus moved around in midfield.
Coach Edin Terzic had also filled out his team with U23 footballers. Guille Bueno, for example. Or Ole Pohlmann. The Dortmund internationals have only been preparing for the match since this week and did not even travel with the team.
Oberhausen had set their sights on something, coach Jörn Nowak marched steadily up and down the touchline and threw up his arms as early as the sixth minute. Dortmund’s substitute goalkeeper Alexander Meyer rushed out of his goal but couldn’t get his hands on the ball as Cottrell Ezekwem was quicker with his head to score for the lead.
It only lasted a short time. In the 14th minute Thorgan Hazard, whom BVB wants to give away, ran down the left side and found Reus in the middle. He shot with his left and goalkeeper Kevin Kratzsch tried to deflect the ball past the goal. In vain. The equaliser.
BVB talent Julien Duranville lacks experience
However, this did not make the Black and Yellows any more convincing, and they continued to have problems with the cheeky Oberhausen players. Moritz Stoppelkamp, who transferred from MSV Duisburg to RWO this summer, just missed the target with his left-footed shot (34th). In 2014, the 36-year-old had once scored a Bundesliga goal for Paderborn with his right from 82 metres. A long time ago. Shortly before the break, Manfredas Ruzgis was free in front of goalkeeper Meyer, but the Oberhausen player’s nerves failed him (44th).
At the break, coach Edin Terzic substituted Julien Duranville, 17, who showed his inexperience in this game, the weak Mateu Morey and goalkeeper Alexander Meyer. Thomas Meunier, Samuel Bamba and goalkeeper Marcel Lotka came on.
BVB test in Erfurt on Saturday
Antonios Papadopoulos, who normally plays for the U23s, headed a free kick by Ole Pohlmann at Oberhausen’s Ezekwem, from whom the ball flew over the line, giving the black and yellow team the lead (47th). BVB now became more attentive and stronger. Hazard could have increased the lead (54.).
On the other side, Manfredas Ruzgis dribbled through the Dortmund penalty area, his shot was deflected over the goal by Lotka. And then Ruzgis scored, this time from 25 metres, the ball slipped into the lower left corner. “Only the RWO will be German champions,” sang the Oberhausen fans. But then Samuel Bamba came on.
Dortmund coach Edin Terzic must have noticed that there are still some problems to be fixed. The next BVB test match will take place on Saturday in Erfurt.
