RB Leipzig has signed a highly talented striker until the summer of 2028. The new man comes from RB Salzburg and will play until the summer of 2028.
RB Leipzig has the Slovenian top talent Benjamin Šeško. However, the 19-year-old will not move to Leipzig from FC Red Bull Salzburg until 1 July 2023 and will be signed by the Saxons on a five-year contract until 30 June 2028. In the 2022/23 season, the striker will still be scoring goals for the Austrian champions. In his young professional career, Šeško has scored 28 goals in 70 games – six for Salzburg and 22 for FC Liefering, to whom he was loaned.
In the 2020/21 season, he shot Liefering to second place with 21 goals in 29 games. These performances helped the attacker make the leap into the professional squad of FC Red Bull Salzburg for the 2021/22 season. There he played in 37 competitive matches this season (including six games in the UEFA Champions League) and contributed eleven goals and six assists.
“Benjamin Šeško is one of the top international talents and has huge potential to become a top player as well. He has everything it takes, is extremely fast, has enormous jumping power and is very strong on the header. Benjamin is a real goal scorer who is agile and technically strong despite his 1.95 metres. His skills make him a special player with a special profile,” says Christopher Vivell, technical director at RB, about the 13-time Slovenia international.
He adds: “I have known Benjamin since he was 15 and was able to convince him to come to Salzburg in 2019. Since then I have followed his development closely and seen every goal. It is the best possible way for Benjamin to play and mature in Salzburg for another year before joining RB Leipzig. We are really looking forward to that now. “
