Sportfreunde Lotte continue to upgrade. Even before the last Oberliga Westfalen matchday, the SFL presented a new attacker.
Even before the 4:1 victory in the Oberliga Westfalen season finale against Eintracht Rheine, Sportfreunde Lotte presented their fans with another new addition.
The 32-year-old centre forward Gianluca Marzullo comes to Lotte Kreuz from Rot Weiss Ahlen in the Regionalliga West.
“I was supposed to be loaned out to Sportfreunde by Arminia Bielefeld 10 years ago, but that didn’t work out then. I know everything here, have often played here and know what to expect. For me, the club belongs at least in the regional league, I want to play ambitious football. We have a good squad next year and I had pleasant talks with coach Fabian Lübbers,” said Marzullo at his introduction.
Marzullo spent the last two and a half years at Rot Weiss Ahlen and already played for Ahlen between 2015 and 2017. He also played the most games in his career for this club. In 150 matches, he scored 37 goals for RWA. The striker, who was born in Cosenza, Italy, has also played for clubs such as Wuppertaler SV, Arminia Bielefeld, Bayer Leverkusen, FC Gütersloh, Westfalia Herne and SC Verl. In Italy, he played for the amateur club ACR Messina. Marzullo can look back on a total of 281 regional league games in which he scored 68 goals.
Sportfreunde Lotte now have ten new players
Sportfreunde Lotte are working diligently on their squad for the new 2023/2024 season after missing out on promotion to the Regionalliga West, finishing fourth in the past season.
Before Marzullo, the club from the Tecklenburg region had already signed Tolga Özdemir (SV Schermbeck); Yassin Ibrahim (SV Rödinghausen), Fabian Kerellaj, Georges Baya Baya (both Eintracht Rheine), Samy Benmbarek (FC Gütersloh), Johannes Sabah (VfB Homberg), Philipp Schmidt (TuS Bersenbrück), Christopher Rasper (SC Verl U19) and Max-Niklas Milde (VfL Osnabrück U19).
