First test match, first win: a good start for Wuppertaler SV. Four players were able to recommend themselves for a contract.
Wuppertaler SV has made a successful start to its series of test matches for the 2024/2025 summer preparations. The regional league club won 3:1 at the Westphalian Oberliga club.
“I’m very satisfied. The boys worked very hard during the week, we did a lot of runs. It was physically very demanding. It was important for me to see that we got through it, that we survived to some extent. But we also wanted to make sure that we played soccer in a game like that. There was a brief moment of shock when we were 1-0 down. But that’s part of the game, it will happen to us in the league. I liked the way they dealt with it and showed presence,” WSV coach Rene Klingbeil summed up to the “Wuppertaler Rundschau”.
With Kim Sané, Finn Broos (both most recently Wattenscheid 09), Muhammed Bejdic (Hessen Kassel) and Riccardo Grym (Lokomotive Leipzig), four test players were also used. Meanwhile, Niklas Dams, Joep Munsters and Semir Saric were rested.
Klingbeil said of the test players’ performance: “It’s never easy for test players when they join a new team. They did very well. We also have a lot of young players who want to show what they can do. I told them all before the game not to overpace themselves. We will evaluate it, we also have video metrics. Bövinghausen played well, it was fun.”
Wuppertal’s next test match will take place on Tuesday (July 2, 4.30 p.m.) in Lippetal against SC Preußen Münster U23s.
