Rot Weiss Ahlen will enter the rest of the Oberliga Westfalen season with a changed squad. Probably also with a player who has made 314 appearances in the third division!
Rot Weiss Ahlen is currently in a relegation spot in the Oberliga Westfalen. That is set to change in the rest of the season. RWA continues to work on its squad for the second half of the season. Eight new players have already joined the team in recent days and weeks. Aaron Osei Bonsu, Philiom Tawiah, Gideon Guzy (all previously without a club), Jan-Nzeba-Bost (VfL Bochum II, on loan), Iskender Aslan (SC Wiedenbrück, on loan), Keleb Nwubani (VfL Bochum II), Bernard Gllogjani (Türkspor Dortmund), and Franko Uzelac (Sportfreunde Lotte): Rot Weiss Ahlen has already signed these eight players during the season or in January 2026. Further reinforcements are expected. Following Jan Holldack (1. FC Bocholt) – Forecasting reported on Ahlen’s interest – the Wersestädter have set their sights on the next big name, according to RS information.
We are talking about Marc Heider. The 39-year-old striker plays for Sportfreunde Lotte and has made 16 appearances (three goals, two assists) in the current Regionalliga West season. Last season, Heider scored 19 goals and set up 13 more. Now he is expected to save Rot Weiss Ahlen from relegation to the Westfalenliga. The transfer is expected to be officially completed in the next few days. Heider was promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga twice. Heider has made a total of 314 appearances in the third division – only five professionals have played more often in this league. His record of 67 goals and 45 assists is also impressive. Heider also played in 54 games in the 2nd Bundesliga (four goals, nine assists).
He spent most of his career in Osnabrück, where he made the leap into professional soccer. He also played for Werder Bremen II and Holstein Kiel for a long time. He has been under contract with Lotte since the summer of 2023. In 2023/2024, when Lotte played in the Oberliga Westfalen and was promoted, the striker scored 21 goals and set up eleven more in 32 games. Rot Weiss Ahlen will be hoping for similar numbers from the American.
