364 Oberliga games! B-League club pulls off a real transfer coup

Grün-Weiß Erkenschwick has signed a very experienced Oberliga player. He will play in the Kreisliga B starting next season.

Grün-Weiß Erkenschwick welcomes Nils Eisen, an extremely experienced and renowned new addition to its central defense.

The 37-year-old defensive player was a key figure at Spielvereinigung Erkenschwick in the Oberliga Westfalen for many years and brings not only great footballing quality but also a high level of leadership to Nußbaumweg. The 37-year-old Eisen has experience from 364 (!) Oberliga games.

The contact was established by head coach Timo Ostdorf, who played alongside Eisen for Spielvereinigung over ten years ago.

The connection continued later when Ostdorf was coaching at TuS Haltern and Nils Eisen was playing there. The two have also been friends off the pitch for many years. Over the years, they have always stayed in touch, and recently the talks intensified, so that after careful consideration, Eisen has now decided to move to Nußbaumweg.

“In Nils, we are gaining a player who has consistently been one of the best players on the pitch for Spielvereinigung over the years. He is an absolute asset to our team: an experienced player with excellent vision, strong ball control, and excellent tackling skills. You could almost call this transfer a real coup – and everyone at Grün-Weiß Erkenschwick can pat themselves on the back for the positive developments our work has seen in recent years,” said Ostdorf, coach of the B-League club, which finished sixth last season.

Eisen, who has deep roots with the club, followed the Grün-Weiß team’s progress last season with great interest – not least because of his regular contact with Ostdorf. The decision to join Grün-Weiß is therefore the result of a long-standing connection and sporting prospects that convinced him.

“I followed the results closely last season and often exchanged ideas with Ossi. Now I think it’s the right time to take this step and I’m looking forward to the team and especially to Maurice Kühn, so that we can play together again,” says Eisen.
