In the second division clash between 1. FC Magdeburg and VfL Osnabrück, Amara Condé played his 100th game for FCM. A special day for the former Essen player.
1. FC Magdeburg and VfL Osnabrück drew 1:1 on the last second division matchday.
Although this result meant that FCM missed out on a final escape in the relegation battle, it secured another important point. After 31 games, head coach Christian Titz’s side are eleventh in the table and five points clear of the relegation places – a solid starting position.
One player celebrated a very special anniversary in this match: Amara Condé. The Magdeburg captain played his 100th game in a Magdeburg shirt.
To mark the occasion, the Freiberg native was presented with an award before kick-off. Sporting director Otmar Schork and coach Titz honored the captain with a special jersey and a bouquet of flowers. Condé was in the starting eleven for his anniversary and was substituted after 78 minutes.
The midfield engine has been under contract in Magdeburg since 2021 and was named captain a year later. Condé was an absolute top performer in the 2021/22 championship season and was one of the best players in the third division. After promotion to the 2nd division, the former German junior international made 55 appearances in the lower division.
Condé played for Rot-Weiss Essen for two years
Before his move to the east, Amara Condé was under contract with Rot-Weiss Essen from 2019 to 2021 and played 67 competitive matches in an RWE shirt – 26 of them under coach Titz. The 27-year-old immediately became a crowd favorite at Hafenstrasse with his attacking and dynamic style of play.
His highlights: Condé scored a fantastic free-kick goal in his first competitive match against Borussia Dortmund II (2:1) to equalize the score at 1:1 and was voted best player of the match in the DFB Cup against Fortuna Düsseldorf (3:2).
