7th addition! Former Schalke U23 captain signs at Tivoli

Alemannia Aachen continues to go full throttle in terms of squad planning for the 2023/2024 season. On Friday, the regional league club presented access number seven.

Only on Thursday, April 20, Mika Hanraths announced that he will leave 1. FC Bocholt at the end of the season. On Friday, April 21, 2023, he was already presented by his new club as a new addition.

As reported by RevierSport, Alemannia Aachen will sign Hanraths from July 1, 2023. The 23-year-old will be used primarily in central defense, but can also play both full-back positions.

“Mika is a very well-trained and athletic defender who has a very strong tackling rate. Not only athletically, but also in terms of character, he fits super into the team and Alemannia. We are delighted to have gained an ambitious player with a lot of potential, who will work hard to achieve our goals,” said Alemannia managing director Sascha Eller, describing the new addition.

Hanraths moved from VfB Hilden to the junior training center of Fortuna Düsseldorf in his youth. After eight years, he moved from there to Borussia Mönchengladbach’s U19s, where he played in five games in the UEFA Youth League. At the Foals, he also took his first steps in senior soccer for the second team.

The defender then moved to the U23 of another Bundesliga club, FC Schalke 04, in 2020, where he was a top performer, joined the professionals in training camp and captained the team on the field in his second year. After two years at Schalke, 1. FC Bocholt signed the 1.88-meter defensive man in September 2022, where he has since been on the pitch for more than 90 minutes in all but one game. In total, Hanraths has appeared in 115 games in the Regionalliga West so far, scoring six goals and providing three assists.

“I’m really looking forward to the task at Alemannia Aachen. I can fully identify with the club’s goals and will give everything to achieve them. I’m totally fired up to win games in front of this impressive backdrop and the many fans,” Hanraths commented on his move.
