90+7! BVB juniors turn away game in Madrid

Shortly before Borussia Dortmund’s away game at Real Madrid, the U19s won the direct junior match and remain unbeaten in the Youth League.

The U19s have set the tone! On the third matchday of the UEFA Youth League, Borussia Dortmund can celebrate a 2-1 win at Real Madrid. The Dortmund team came back from a 0-1 halftime deficit. The man of the match was substitute Taycan Etcibasi, who was involved in both goals.

A few hours before the BVB pros took on the Royals in the Champions League, the game began with the home team looking more alert, with Hugo de Llanos giving the young Madrilenians an early lead (8th minute). Real remained the dominant team but were unable to add to their lead.

The visitors did not pose much of a threat in the first half. BVB coach Mike Tullberg made three changes at half-time. However, he brought on the match winner later, with Etcibasi entering the game in the 62nd minute. Dortmund were still trailing 0-1 at that point, but that was not to last long.

Just two minutes later, it was Etcibasi who was brought down in the Madrid penalty area and Damian Kos pointed to the spot. Nick Cherny took responsibility and equalized (64′).

BVB remain unbeaten, Real suffer second defeat

It was looking like a draw, with stoppage time ticking away, when BVB pushed forward once more. Mussa Kaba broke through in the penalty area and spotted Etcibasi, who didn’t miss the opportunity to score from 14 meters out and secure a 2-1 away win – in the seventh minute of stoppage time!

This means that BVB remain unbeaten after three games and are firmly at the top of the Youth League with seven points. It was the second defeat for Real’s youth team.
