Flick still believes in his team – “I don’t see any fear”.

Ahead of the explosive group duel with Spain, Germany coach Hansi Flick remains confident in his team despite the World Cup false start against Japan.

“I don’t see any fear in the team at all. The team has so much experience, the team has such high quality, it’s simply a matter of looking forward to the game,” Flick said in an interview with ARD’s Sportschau on Saturday.

“At the end of the day, you have to try to put in your best performance against strong Spaniards and that’s where the team is challenged,” Flick said, adding, “I think the team is looking forward to it.”

A defeat on Sunday (20:00 CET/ZDF and MagentaTV) against Spain, who beat Costa Rica 7-0 in their opener, could mean the DFB eleven’s second successive preliminary round exit at a World Cup. But Flick is not wasting a thought on that.

“I am absolutely convinced that we will play well tomorrow and win the game in the end,” said Flick before his most important match as national coach so far.
