Forty-eight hours after leaving Manchester United, Cristiano Ronaldo will be looking to give Portugal a win in their Group H opener against Ghana. They know each other, the two sides having met back in 2014, with the five-time Ballon d’Or winner scoring the decisive goal.
Uruguay, who have younger talent in their ranks alongside their experienced attack, will go into the encounter with South Korea as favourites. The Koreans last reached the semi-finals in 2002, but failed to advance beyond the group stage at the last two World Cups.

For Ghana it is only their fourth ever World Cup, sporting Portugal certainly have the favourites in the group. Uruguay and South Korea, however, are also good for surprises.

The Brazilians are here, and as usual the Brazilian team is peppered with stars like Thiago Silva, Vinicius Junior and of course the mercurial Neymar. Serbia have included Alexander Mitrovic in their squad, although he is hampered by an ankle injury – so he can only hope to play a part in this World Cup. In the second match of Group G, Cameroon will face Switzerland. Another South American team has already played their opening match in this stadium – Brazil will hope that they do not suffer the same fate as Argentina.
