Rape allegations! Saarbrücken releases player

Tobias Schwede has to answer for the accusation of common rape.

Rüdiger Ziehl, manager and head coach of the promotion aspirants Saarbrücken, confirmed the accusations against Schwede. Ziehl told the “Saarbrücker Zeitung”: “Tobias Schwede has been accused of rape and has therefore been released from his duties. It is not an easy situation for him. It doesn’t make sense for us that he continues to train with us.”

In concrete terms, Schwede and a friend allegedly raped a 23-year-old woman from Mainz. The incident is said to have taken place in the night from 12 to 13 January 2020, as reported by the “Wiesbadener Kurier”. At that time, the current Saarbrücken player was under contract with SV Wehen Wiesbaden.

Schwede is 28 years old and made 13 appearances as a left-back for a total of 613 minutes of play for 1. FC Saarbrücken in the current third division season.

Schwede can look back on a total of 90 Drittliga games (eight goals, 16 assists), 45 appearances (one goal, three assists) in the 2nd Bundesliga and 39 games (two goals, three assists) in the Regionalliga Nord.
