The 1. FC Bocholt is officially in the winter break. The make-up game against Fortuna Köln scheduled for next weekend has been cancelled again. The search for a coach is on.

The catch-up match of matchday 8 in the Regionalliga West between 1. FC Bocholt and Fortuna Köln cannot take place as planned next Saturday (17 December 2022) at the Gigaset Arena.

“The city of Bocholt has closed the grass pitch at Hünting early. The match is expected to be made up at the beginning of 2023, but the exact date has not yet been set. Tickets that have already been purchased will remain valid even if the match is rescheduled,” is the official statement from 1. FC Bocholt.

So, winter break in Bocholt! But the work continues for those responsible. Now that it has been decided that Marcus John will only be sporting director from 1 January and no longer coach, the search is on for a successor to John as Bocholt coach.

And, lo and behold, the desired candidate has been found. “We have a top candidate. We are in final talks here. I think we could be through by the weekend. I hope it works out,” John revealed to RevierSport on Wednesday – 14 December 2022.
