Shortly before Christmas and the turn of the year, MSV Duisburg can look forward to a lot of money. The reason: The Zebras are number one in the Financial Fair Play table of the 3rd division.

Since 2019, 550,000 euros have been distributed annually to the clubs in the 3rd division via Financial Fair Play. Now the distributions for the past season 2021/2022 have been determined. This was officially announced by the DFB.

Accordingly, twelve clubs will participate from the money pot – that is two less than in the previous year. In the 2019/2020 season, twelve clubs also benefited from Financial Fair Play. Second teams of licensed clubs are not taken into account.

The highest payout from Financial Fair Play this time was secured by MSV Duisburg. The Meiderich club can look forward to receiving almost 84,000 euros on the basis of their positive Financial Fair Play results for the season and the quality of their planning.

Around 63,000 euros each will go to Eintracht Braunschweig and VfL Osnabrück, while more than 50,000 euros will go to 1. FC Saarbrücken, Halleschen FC and SV Meppen.

Reward system for healthy and sustainable management

Financial Fair Play in the 3rd Division is currently a reward system for healthy and sustainable management. The payout is based on two criteria:

The total sum of €550,000 is divided 50/50 between these two pillars: €275,000 is distributed to the clubs with a positive season result and €275,000 to the clubs with a high planning quality that have met or even exceeded their targeted season result.
