Winter break in the Regionalliga West. Which club had the most spectators in the first half of the season?

Preußen Münster is the measure of all things in the Regionalliga West. The league leaders dominate at the top of the table. But there is one category in which the club is “only” in second place after the first half of the season.

In terms of spectator average, Alemannia Aachen (5th) is ahead in the Regionalliga West after the first half of the season. A total of more than 101,000 spectators have been drawn to the Tivoli in the eleven games played so far – that corresponds to an average of 9,236 per game. In the four games against 1. FC Düren, SV Rödighausen, Rot-Weiß Oberhausen and Fortuna Köln, more than 10,000 spectators came to the stadium in each case.

However, league leader Münster only played nine games at its home stadium, which will be modernised in the next few years, before the winter break. These were watched by an average of 7,310 spectators. This puts the front-runners well ahead of the competition in second place. Münster’s highest attendance was 9,558 – at the 0:1 defeat against Wuppertaler SV, of all teams.

In the rest of the league, Rot-Weiß Oberhausen (10 games/average attendance of 3,140) follows the top duo. Fortuna Köln (10/1,945), Wuppertaler SV (10/1,845), 1. FC Bocholt (8/1,445) and SG Wattenscheid 09 (11/1,264) also have a four-digit average attendance.

Bringing up the rear in this ranking is promoted 1. FC Kaan-Marienborn. In the nine matches in the Herkules Arena, an average of less than 500 spectators (458) came. SV Straelen (502) is also behind the second teams of Fortuna Düsseldorf, Schalke 04 and 1 FC Köln.
