Contract termination! Ex-Essener leaves the bottom of the league immediately

The former Bochum and Essen player Cebio Soukou is no longer part of the SV Sandhausen squad. Club and he have terminated the contract with immediate effect.

Cebiou Soukou is leaving SV Sandhausen. As the second-division club announced on Saturday, the player and the club have terminated the existing contract with immediate effect.

On Tuesday, the club had announced that the offensive player was allowed to leave the club. In addition to him, Tom Trybull, Marcel Ritzmaier and former Duisburg player Arne Sicker were also sorted out.

Soukou had moved to the Hardtwald from Arminia Bielefeld in the summer of 2021. He made a total of 42 appearances for SV Sandhausen, scoring five goals in the process. Born in Bochum, he comes from the VfL youth team. He made his breakthrough at senior level with Rot-Weiss Essen. Soukou had been under contract with the Bergeborbeckers for a total of about three and a half years before leaving the club for Erzgebirge Aue. He made regular appearances for Sandhausen in the first half of the season – but mostly from the bench.

It is not yet known where the 30-year-old, who comes from Benin, will be moving to.

It is also not yet clear how things will continue with the ex-Duisburg player Sicker. The 25-year-old was a regular for the Zebras and was part of the team that missed out on promotion by a hair’s breadth in the 2019/20 Corona season. Sicker only played four games for Sandhausen this season, which was also due to injury. In all likelihood, he will play for another club in the second half of the season.

SV Sandhausen’s additions in the current transfer winter include two names so far: Kerim Calhanoglu was loaned from FC Schalke 04. In addition, former KFC Uerdingen player Franck Evina has joined the club from Hannover 96 and is expected to lead the bottom team to a place in the 2nd Bundesliga. For Sandhausen, the second half of the season begins on 29 January with an away match at Arminia Bielefeld.
