Osnabrück managing director Welling angry with BVB

After the cancellation of the BVB II – VfL Osnabrück match, VfL managing director Michael Welling is angry with Dortmund. He has a clear demand.

The 3rd division match between Borussia Dortmund’s U23 and VfL Osnabrück scheduled for Saturday had to be cancelled.

BVB II plays its home games in Wuppertal. The stadium at the zoo there was declared unplayable after Wednesday’s snowfall and frost. This caused annoyance and surprise at VfL Osnabrück.

An angry Osnabrück manager, Michael Welling, told the NOZ that it was “irritating” and “annoying” that a club like BVB could not manage to secure the match. For VfL and its fans, the cancellation was a sporting and financial disadvantage.

The Osnabrück team now wants the match to be rescheduled very quickly. Because BVB will face FC Augsburg in the rest of the Bundesliga on Sunday (22 January, 3:30 p.m.) at Signal-Iduna-Park, the U23s were not interested in playing at the stadium because they wanted to protect the pitch.

Now former RWE boss Welling is demanding: “We expect the game to be played on Tuesday evening (24 January, editor’s note) – and in the then free Signal-Iduna-Park or alternatively, for all I care, another stadium with pitch heating in the Pott. We have lodged this with the DFB because this will at least ensure the integrity of the competition. “
