Just a few days after his transfer, Daniel Heber celebrated his debut in the 2nd Bundesliga. Magdeburg coach Christian Titz used him in the starting eleven.

For Daniel Heber, the calendar year 2023 already began with lows and highs. The Neuss-born player missed the first match of the remaining series in the 3rd division with Rot-Weiss Essen against Halleschen FC, and a week later in Paderborn against Verl he sat on the bench for 88 minutes. This was followed by a move to 1. FC Magdeburg and his former coach Christian Titz, who immediately relied on the services of the former RWE captain from the start in the away game in Düsseldorf.

Titz deployed the defender alongside his former teammate Amara Condé as a track player in a 3-4-3 on the right side, a position he had not played in Essen for some time, at least as a starting eleven player. With Michal Karbownik and Kristoffer Peterson he had two Premier League experienced opponents.

Accordingly, the quick defensive man had a hard time against the Düsseldorf players. At the beginning, he attracted attention with a few fouls. After 28 minutes, he received a yellow card for a hard tackle on Karbownik. But he made the big mistake six minutes later.

At the height of his own penalty area and completely unchallenged, the former Oberhausen player played a high ball into the centre. Düsseldorf’s Felix Klaus won the ball, charged forward and then set up Dawid Kownacki for Düsseldorf’s 2-1 lead. Heber was not involved in the stormy opening phase with an early (missed) penalty for Düsseldorf, Magdeburg’s 1:0 and Düsseldorf’s equaliser.
