SV Sandhausen only fired their head coach Alois Schwarz at the weekend. On Monday, the SVS presented his successor.

SV Sandhausen has a new head coach: Tomas Oral will take over the reins at the bottom of the 2nd Bundesliga.

The 49-year-old takes over from Alois Schwartz, who was released by SVS on Sunday.

“The first conversation with Tomas Oral took place late on Sunday evening. Tommy has proven in the past that he can quickly put a team on the road to success and he knows the second division extremely well,” said Mikayil Kabaca, Sporting Director of SV Sandhausen.

Oral coached the second team of FSV Frankfurt from 2002 to 2006 and then took over responsibility for the first team of FSV until 2009, which he led from the Oberliga to the 2nd Bundesliga.

Oral then joined RB Leipzig (2010/2011) and later FC Ingolstadt (2011-2013) before coaching Fulham FC (2014) as an assistant under Felix Magath. The Ochsenfurt native then saved FSV Frankfurt from relegation to Liga 3 (2015/16) before becoming head coach at Karlsruher SC (2016).

Most recently, Oral returned to FC Ingolstadt as interim coach from April to June 2019 and took over the club again in March 2020 as head coach in the 3. Liga. After initially narrowly missing out on promotion, Oral’s FCI celebrated relegation to the 2nd Bundesliga the following year. Oral had been without a club since June 2021.

As a player, Tomas Oral played 38 regional league games for SG Egelsbach, scoring two goals. Oral also contributed nine goals and one assist in 201 games in the Oberliga Hessen for Germania Horbach and FSV Frankfurt.

Sandhausen is currently only two points behind the save bank. On Saturday (25 February, 1 p.m.), Oral will make his debut as SVS coach in the basement duel against 1. FC Nürnberg. The “Club” had also just introduced a new coach on Monday.
