Eight players missing in training ahead of match against VfL Bochum

When SV Werder Bremen face VfL Bochum on Saturday (15:30), a large number of players could be absent on both sides.

VfL Bochum are threatened with the absence of five players in their Bundesliga match at SV Werder Bremen (Saturday, 15:30).

It is clear that captain Anthony Losilla (yellow suspension), Simon Zoller (muscle injury) and Gerrit Holtmann (knee surgery) will not be involved. Kevin Stöger and Danilo Soares are ill, and their participation is not yet certain.

But the opponents from Bremen also do not yet know exactly who will be available. Bremen announced on Tuesday that four players – Marvin Ducksch (migraine), Niklas Stark (sick), Dikeni Salifou, who is taking an individual strain due to a blow to his calf, and Tim-Justin Dietrich (knee) – had to sit out.

Goalkeeper Jiri Pavlenka and right-back Mitchell Weiser trained individually, Felix Agu and Manuel Mbom continue to be out due to their injuries.

While Stark is suspended against VfL anyway due to his fifth yellow card, coach Ole Werner is still hoping that Weiser will play (external ligament injury), but a decision may not be made until shortly before the match.

After all, midfielder Christian Groß was able to participate in training again after recovering from illness.

Both teams lost on the last matchday. Bremen 0:2 in Frankfurt, the VfL 0:2 against SC Freiburg. With Werder, the fourth worst home team meets the worst away team.

The VfL lost the first leg 0:2 thanks to a brace from Niclas Füllkrug. The overall balance is also clearly in favour of the Bremen side. The Bochum side won only ten of 72 games. Werder Bremen were the winners 45 times. VfL’s last win in Bremen was in 2008.
