Ex Schalke talent robbed – “our home was taken away from us”.

René Klingenburg, who is currently under contract with 1. FC Kaiserslautern, has had to cope with a break-in at the family home. His wife gave an insight into how hard it is.

In sporting terms, the season is already difficult for René Klingenburg. For at 1. FC Kaiserslautern he was only used once in the 2nd Bundesliga this season. The former FC Schalke talent, where the 29-year-old played between 2011 and 2015, has only made one appearance this season.

He was substituted for one minute on the fifth matchday against Greuther Fürth. His contract expires at the end of the season, at which point the player, who is so well known in NRW and who also played for Preußen Münster, Viktoria Köln and in his youth for MSV, will have to reorient himself.

Presumably, this will be very convenient for him and his family. The Klingenburg family was robbed at the weekend.

The police press release says: “Burglars left a lot of damage in the southern part of the city on Saturday. The unknown persons took advantage of the absence of the residents and forced their way into a residential house in broad daylight in the afternoon, searched all the rooms and made quite a mess. According to initial checks, the perpetrators took jewellery, high-quality clothes and handbags as well as cash. The total amount of damage has yet to be determined. However, due to the large number of stolen items, the police currently assume that several perpetrators were at work.”

And they didn’t just cause material damage, because Klingenburg’s wife gave an insight into the family’s current mental life via Instagram. She begins her message by saying, “I hope you are feeling better than I am. We had the worst day of our lives yesterday. I didn’t sleep the whole night. We were robbed, you can’t imagine what the house looks like.”

She continues, “Our home was taken from us, our children’s home was taken from them. The house is definitely history for us, the Kaiserslautern issue is over for us. Everything that happened there has taken its toll on us anyway.”

All that remains is to wish the family that they can put this assault behind them and make a new start.
