Bocholt scores “Goal of the Month” February

The Regionalliga West has been enriched with an award: The “Goal of the Month” for February has been chosen. A player from 1. FC Bocholt came out on top.

In his programme “Zeigler’s wonderful world of football”, presenter Arnd Zeigler traditionally chooses the most beautiful “poop goals” from all possible leagues every month. In February, a player from the Regionalliga West came out on top.

We are talking about Marc Beckert from 1. FC Bocholt. One minute before Marcel Platzek was substituted, the player from Bocholt scored the 3:1 winner in the basement duel at SG Wattenscheid 09 in injury time and secured an important three points for his club.

With the kind help of Wattenscheid goalkeeper Bruno Staudt, who, under pressure from the goal scorer, made a hole in the air past the ball, Beckert was finally able to push the ball into the empty net.

“It doesn’t matter, the goals count. These are important goals for us to stay in the league and I hope that now things will work out again for us with the simple goals,” the 31-year-old Becker commented on his goal.

I think here at FC we can always use the toilet bowl. We always have a problem with the sanitary facilities here. That would certainly be the greatest toilet bowl we would have here in Bocholt.

With 31 per cent of the votes, Beckert left Florian Kastenmeier (Fortuna Düsseldorf), Jona Renner (Germania Halberstadt), Milla Punsar (SV Meppen women) and Clemens Budde (Westfalia Soest A-youth), who were also nominated, behind him. The prize? The traditional toilet seat. The handover and the goal in the video can be found here:

Where this award will go has not yet been decided. “Definitely in the house at some point, but other claims have been made there for so long. My wife also wanted it for the practice,” Beckert revealed during the award presentation in the programme, but also had another idea.

“I think we can always use it here at FC. We always have a problem with the sanitary facilities here. That would certainly be the greatest toilet bowl we would have here in Bocholt,” the award-winner remarked with a wink.
