With a win against FC Ingolstadt, Dynamo Dresden have jumped into a promotion spot. The Saxons won 3:2.

Third division football club Dynamo Dresden have underlined their ambitions of a direct return to the Unterhaus by capturing a promotion spot. The Saxons won the relegation duel at FC Ingolstadt 3:2 (2:1) and, with their eighth victory in the last twelve games without defeat, pushed SV Wehen Wiesbaden out of third place, which is currently enough for them to jump into the second division behind leaders SV Elversberg and the reserve team of Bundesliga side SC Freiburg, who are not eligible for promotion.

In contrast to Dynamo, Ingolstadt had to bury their hopes of promotion two days after the premature departure of their former sporting director Malte Metzelder. After only two points from six games without a win, the team of Dresden’s former coach Guerino Capretti is 15 points behind Wiesbaden, who occupy the relegation spot, with ten rounds to go.

Dresden showed character in their eighth away win of the season after Denis Linsmayer’s early goal (5th minute). By the break, Paul Will (10th) and Ahmet Arslan (40th) had already set the course for the fourth win in a row. After the second half, Jakob Lemmer (58) scored the third goal for the SGD coach Markus Anfang’s team. The home side were unable to prevent their seventh home defeat despite Donald Nduka’s goal in the 61st minute after Valmir Sulejmani was shown a yellow card in the 82nd minute.
