9th coach dismissal of the current season perfect

Nine match days are still to be played in the 2nd Bundesliga. And things are getting tighter in the basement. A relegation candidate now got nervous and dismissed its coach.

FC Hansa Rostock has reacted to the slump in 2023. Coach Patrick Glöckner was only able to win one of eight games and pick up another point. So in total only four points from eight matches. That now meant the end of the 46-year-old football coach.

Hansa Rostock reacted to the sporting slump on Monday and parted company with head coach Glöckner one day after the 2:5 defeat against Fortuna Düsseldorf. After the fifth winless game in a row, Rostock slipped to a relegation spot in the 2nd Bundesliga.

Martin Pieckenhagen, Director of Sport at second-division club Hansa Rostock, said in a club statement: “After only one win in the last eight games of the second half of the season and in view of the current situation in the standings, we now need a course correction as quickly as possible in order to avoid further jeopardising our ability to stay in the relegation zone. Therefore, we have unanimously come to the decision that a change is necessary and have released Patrick Glöckner. We urgently need to get back on the road to success and will subordinate everything to this task. Of course, this also includes an honest analysis of the past weeks and months – of all the people involved.”

Until further notice, the two co-trainers Nicolas Masetzky and Uwe Ehlers will lead the team.

Glöckner, who only took up his post in November, is thus the ninth head coach to have to leave in the current season.
