Two suspensions against Mannheim – Remaining program gives hope

Rot-Weiss Essen still has seven games to go. The big caliber of the 3rd League are almost all gone.

Should SpVgg Bayreuth win at SC Verl on Sunday (3 p.m.), Rot-Weiss Essen would only be four points clear of the first relegation spot after the 1:2 at Dynamo Dresden.

And next week against Waldhof Mannheim (Sunday, April 16, 2 p.m.), two veterans will also be missing due to suspension. Björn Rother saw the red card after an assault shortly before the end, Felix Herzenbruch picked up his 5th yellow card in the 2nd half.

Both will be missing in the home game, so it would be all the more important if defender Felix Bastians were available again after his adductor problems. Felix Götze could also become a squad candidate after his illness until the home game against Mannheim.

The match in Dresden showed what is missing at the top level of the third league when the opponent has a good day and RWE loses important key players.

But calibers like Dresden are no longer waiting for RWE in the final weeks of the season. Therefore, the class preservation should be bagged there, probably RWE will still lack six to seven points to stay in the 3. league.

And there is hardly a game where RWE could not score. Starting with Waldhof Mannheim, even though they actually want to move up. But the team of ex-RWE coach Christian Neidhart has little success away from home. There have only been three away wins so far – in the away table, Mannheim is in 17th place with eleven points.
