Offensive player from the regional league signs

Third division side FC Viktoria Köln have signed another player for the 2023/2024 season.

The FC Viktoria Köln squad for the coming season continues to take shape: Offensive talent Donny Bogicevic (21) is coming to Cologne-Höhenberg from Southwest Regionalliga runners-up TSV Steinbach Haiger.

The 1.86-metre tall German-Croatian made the move from FC Giessen to Steinbach in the summer of 2022, where he initially had to deal with the consequences of a hip operation and was subsequently put out of action by a corona disease and a fatigue fracture in his foot.

After rehabilitation and athletic training, he has played 15 competitive matches since the beginning of March, scoring five goals. TSV Steinbach, as runners-up in the Regionalliga Südwest, were still allowed to hope for promotion until the penultimate matchday last weekend, but SSV Ulm did not show any more weakness and are now confirmed as champions.

“I am delighted that we have been able to win over a very talented player who has the same goals as our club and wants to take the next step with us,” explained Stephan Küsters, Sporting Director Viktoria Köln. “Donny Bogicevic is a very technically skilled player, a good box-to-box player, and he also has a very good finish on goal.”

Donny Bogicevic says about his move to the Schäl Sick: “I want to take the next step here and I am really looking forward to the new task at Viktoria Köln. The talks with those responsible were very positive. I want to develop further here and hope for a successful season.”

Viktoria Köln: Five arrivals and eight departures

Bogicevic is the fifth addition to the 2023/2024 Viktoria squad after Valdrin Mustafa (SV Elversberg), Stefan Russo (Waldhof Mannheim) and the two homegrown players Kaden Amaniampong and Jonah Sticker.

Meanwhile, Mike Wunderlich (coach at SV Bergisch Gladbach 09), Marcel Risse, Hamza Saghiri, Federico Palacios and Daniel Buballa (all destination unknown) as well as loan players Jamil Siebert (Fortuna Düsseldorf), Robin Meißner (Hamburger SV) and Simon Stehle (Hannover 96) will leave Viktoria Köln.
