This is how a 299-time third league player explains his move to the Oberliga

Just over a week ago, TuS Bövinghausen introduced a real cracker! A man who played almost 300 games in the 3rd division will be playing in the Oberliga from 1 July.

TuS Bövinghausen has a lot planned for the coming season. With Jeron Al-Hazaimeh (Wuppertaler SV) and Marcus Piossek (SV Meppen), the Dortmund Oberliga club also introduced two experienced third league players. With Marco Königs or Christopher Kramer, further calibre, this time for the attack, are under discussion – TCN reported.

TCN spoke to 33-year-old Marcus Piossek, who has made a whopping 299 appearances in the 3rd Division, about his move to Bövinghausen, in the 5th Division.

Marcus Piossek, why does a professional like you go to the 5th League?

The bottom line is that I am also 33 years old now. In March we had a son and moved from Bielefeld to Unna. That’s when I started looking at regional league teams in the area and suddenly I got the call from Christian Knappmann. We have known each other and appreciated each other for a long time. We even played together once in Ahlen. The talks with him and Mr. Ajan Dzaferoski were very interesting. The project is very exciting and I really want to tackle it with ‘Knappi’. He is a totally positive and crazy person and coach. I am looking forward to working with him.

I have the feeling that everyone hates TuS Bövinghausen, for all I care people can do the same. It will make us even stronger! I have made my own picture of the club and that is positive. I want to have the maximum success with Bövinghausen.

You have also had offers from the Regionalliga. Doesn’t this league appeal to you anymore?

Yes, of course it does. But we met with TuS three times and then I decided on Bövinghausen. There were also opportunities to play in the regional league. That’s true. But the TuS project is very appealing. Maybe we’ll manage to play in the regional league with Bövinghausen in the 2024/2025 season.

The goal for the coming season should be clear, right?

I have the feeling that everyone hates TuS Bövinghausen, for all I care people can do the same. That will make us even stronger! I have formed my own picture of the club and that is positive. I want to have the maximum success with Bövinghausen.

You have been out injured for a long time this season. Will TuS Bövinghausen get a top-fit Marcus Piossek?

Yes, definitely. Because the truth is that I wasn’t injured at all, I was on sick leave. That’s a longer story that doesn’t belong here at the moment. In due course, I’ll be happy to comment on it in TCN.
