Second addition – An international player for Hamburger Straße

Zweitligist Eintracht Braunschweig has presented its second external addition. This time it is a national player.

After Johan Gomez (FSV Zwickau), Eintracht Braunschweig has signed Robert Ivanov, its second external addition for the 2023/2024 season. Ivanov is a current Finnish international.

The centre-back joins the Lions from Polish first division club Warta Posen and signs a contract until 30 June 2025.

The 28-year-old defender, who is 1.97 metres tall, had been active in Posen (87 games, two goals) since the summer of 2020. Before that, he wore the jersey of Finnish first division club FC Honka for four years (146 games, 18 goals). The defensive player also made his debut for the Finnish senior national team in January 2019 and has since played a total of 20 international matches.

Peter Vollmann, Managing Director Sport, emphasises: “Robert is a player with extremely good defensive qualities, who can defend at any height and also has a good build-up play. With his height, he will also be able to help us offensively and defensively in standard situations. We are happy that he has decided to join us.”

“I am very happy to be at Braunschweig. It was always my dream to play in Germany one day and with the move to Eintracht, that dream is coming true for me. I can’t wait to play in front of the great fans on Hamburger Straße and wear the colours of this traditional club. We can achieve a lot together and we will have a successful time together,” Ivanov added.

Eintracht Braunschweig: A total of eight departures

With Bryan Henning, Tarsis Bonga and Enrique Peña Zauner, three players have left Eintracht for unknown destinations. They are joined by Linus Gechter (Hertha BSC), Filip Benkovic (Udinese), Eita Endo (Union Berlin), Manuel Wintzheimer (1. FC Nürnberg) and Mehmet Ibrahimi (RB Leipzig), who have been on loan so far.
