19 Goal Contributions – Second Division Club Signs Desired Striker from the 3rd Division

SV Elversberg have signed a new striker. The second division promoted team signed a man from the 3rd division.

SV Elversberg have strengthened themselves further for the new season in the 2nd Bundesliga after Paul Stock (TSV Steinbach Haiger) and have signed striker Dominik Martinovic for the offensive. The 26-year-old most recently played for SV Waldhof Mannheim and has now signed a two-year contract with Elversberg until the summer of 2025.

According to information from RevierSport, third division clubs such as Dynamo Dresden and Rot-Weiss Essen were also interested in the attacker – RevierSport reported.

“Dominik is a very ambitious player who has consistently put in strong performances on the pitch in recent years with his speed and finishing power. We are happy that he will accompany us on our way as one of the top goal scorers in the 3rd division,” says SVE sports director Ole Book.

Martinovic adds: “I had a good and enjoyable time in Mannheim, but am now looking forward to the new challenges in Elversberg. SVE caused quite a stir last season. I’m looking forward to getting to know everyone in the team soon and starting my preparations for the 2nd division with the squad.”

Born in Stuttgart, Martinovic trained with VfB Stuttgart up to U17 level in his youth and then with FC Bayern Munich for three years. After subsequently gaining his first experience in the men’s game for RB Leipzig II in the Regionalliga for over a year and a half, Martinovic moved to the 3. Liga in the winter of the 2017/2018 season.

Martinovic’s record: 141 Third Division games, 42 goals, 27 assists

Via SV Wehen Wiesbaden and SG Sonnenhof Großaspach, the former German and Croatian youth international recommended himself for SV Waldhof Mannheim, whom he joined for the 2020/2021 season. In the past three seasons, the attacking player was a regular, played in most games from the start and was SV Waldhof’s top goal scorer in all three seasons.

Martinovic, who can play both up front and on the right flank, played a total of 105 Drittliga games for Mannheim (36 goals/22 assists). This brings the 26-year-old’s club tally to 141 Drittliga games, in which he has scored 42 goals and set up 27 others.
