Preußen Münster announce full signing of player from second-division promoted team

Preußen Münster has officially presented its fifth external newcomer for the coming season. He comes from Wehen Wiesbaden, a team promoted to the second division.

It was no longer a surprise when Preußen Münster made it official on Monday afternoon: Sebastian Mrowca will be playing for the club. As expected, the 29-year-old defensive midfielder is moving from Wehen Wiesbaden to Hammer Straße.

Just like the Münster team, Mrowca was able to celebrate promotion at the end of the last season. With Wiesbaden, he achieved promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga in the relegation against Arminia Bielefeld, after the club had dramatically missed the direct jump into the Unterhaus.

Mrowca played from the start in both of the decisive games. In the regular season, he made 29 appearances, in which he assisted four goals. The former Polish junior international brings the experience of 26 games in the 2nd Bundesliga and 170 appearances in the 3rd Liga to Münster. Mrowca had already played for Wiesbaden since 2014. Before that, the former FC Bayern youth player wore the jersey of Energie Cottbus.

“We are very happy that Sebastian has decided to join us. He brings great quality to Münster, as he has proven time and again as a key player in a team promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga. In addition, he fits perfectly into our team as a type and will lead the way with his experience,” sporting director Peter Niemeyer is quoted as saying.

As the relegation has extended Mrowca’s season, the new signing will not join training until next week. Münster have already started their preparation for the new third league season on Sunday – Mrowca was also on site as a spectator.

“Preußen Münster is a club with a great tradition, which has developed greatly recently. I am very happy to play here in the future,” he said about his move, according to the club’s statement.

After Rico Preißinger (FC Ingolstadt), Joel Grodowski (SC Verl), Luca Bazolli (VfB Stuttgart II) and Daniel Kyerewaa (Schalke 04 II), Mrowca is the fifth new arrival. He is joined by Jano ter Horst from our own U23s and Kevin Schacht, who returns after a year on loan at Eintracht Trier.
