Test match highlight – Borussia Dortmund comes to the Stadion Niederrhein

Rot-Weiß Oberhausen can look forward to a real top opponent in the preparation. Runners-up Borussia Dortmund will come to the Stadion Niederrhein for a test match.

Rot-Weiß Oberhausen has already been preparing for the upcoming season in the Regionalliga West for a week. Until now, the international test match against the Dutch second-division team VVV Venlo (22 July, 2 p.m.) was considered the highlight of the summer – but that has now changed.

Because on 19 July, it’s against the first team of Borussia Dortmund. The Champions League participant does the honours and is a guest at the Stadion Niederrhein. SV Straelen, who were actually scheduled as opponents for this date, will instead test at home against FC Wegberg-Beeck.

“We are delighted to welcome Borussia Dortmund, the eight-time German champions, five-time German Cup winners and Champions League winners of the 1996/1997 season, to the Stadion Niederrhein for this absolute highlight friendly match,” said RWO board chairman Thorsten Binder in a press release.

Coach Jörn Nowak’s team will then take on the runners-up from 6pm. Tickets are already available. This means that the Oberhausen team will play seven test matches, plus one more game that will be closed to the public. The first of the series of test matches will be played next Saturday (3 pm). RWO will then be guests of 1. FC Mülheim.
