Marko Johansson was loaned to VfL Bochum by Hamburger SV for one year. The 24-year-old goalkeeper did not make a competitive appearance.

Marko Johansson continues to search for his footballing fortune. The goalkeeper, who was loaned out to Bundesliga club VfL Bochum last season, still has no future at his home club Hamburger SV. Nevertheless, the 24-year-old’s future could lie in the 2nd Bundesliga for the time being.

The loan to Bochum cannot have been satisfactory for Johansson and HSV. Although VfL coach Thomas Letsch attested to the Swede’s consistently good training performance, he did not make a competitive appearance. Johansson was only allowed to stand between the posts in test matches during the winter break.

The 24-year-old will not want to settle for that at his next club. His contract in Hamburg still runs for two years until 2025, but a further loan this summer is already on the horizon. Johansson is currently auditioning for one of HSV’s league rivals.

Until the end of the week, Johansson is undergoing trial training at VfL Osnabrück. The club announced this on its website on Tuesday (4 July): “The 24-year-old Swede, currently under contract with Hamburger SV, joins the team today and will be a training guest over the next few days.

Accordingly, he will have the opportunity to prove his skills in six sessions and convince Osnabrück coach Tobias Schweinsteiger of his worth. Possibly also on Saturday at the “Volkswagen Cup” at Bremer Brücke. The VfL will then test against Eintracht Braunschweig and Fortuna Düsseldorf.

According to the BILD, Johansson’s first impression on the pitch was positive. The keeper showed good actions between the posts, gave loud commands and was also convincing with the ball at his feet. If it didn’t work out at VfL Bochum, then maybe it will at VfL Osnabrück.
