Ex-Gladbach coach Daniel Farke has found a new job

It didn’t take long: About a month after his dismissal from Borussia Mönchengladbach, Daniel Farke has found a new job.

Daniel Farke is returning to England after his unsuccessful Bundesliga intermezzo at Borussia Mönchengladbach.

The 46-year-old, promoted to the Premier League with Norwich City in 2019 and 2021, takes over as team manager of second division club Leeds United.

Farke signed a four-year contract with the relegated club. He succeeds Sam Allardyce, who failed to save Leeds in the last four games of the season.

Football coach Farke had to leave Gladbach after only one season and a season-ending tenth place finish. In a press release from former champions Leeds, he now thanked them “for the warm welcome at a wonderful club”. The clear goal is promotion.

Daniel Farke: Oberliga in Lippstadt, Premier League in Norwich, Bundesliga in Mönchengladbach

Farke first worked as sports director and coach at SV Lippstadt between 2009 and 2015, which he led to the Regionalliga West during his six-year tenure with two consecutive championships in between. In autumn 2015, the Westphalian took over Borussia Dortmund’s U23s, with whom they finished runners-up in the Regionalliga West in the 2016/17 season.

In the summer of 2017, he moved to England and immediately led second-division club Norwich City into the Premier League. Although the club was relegated straight back, Farke managed to win direct promotion with the “Canaries” in the 2020/21 season. On the 11th matchday of the following season, Farke had to take his leave.

After leaving Norwich, Farke took over as coach at FK Krasnodar in January 2022. Due to the Russian war of aggression on Ukraine, he terminated his contract there at the beginning of March without having played a competitive match with the team. He signed for Mönchengladbach on 1 July 2022, but played a disappointing Bundesliga season with Borussia and had to pack his bags at the Niederrhein in early June. Now it’s time for the island and Leeds United again. wozi with dpa
